Wichita's noise framework is codified in Code of the City of Wichita Chapter 7.41 (Noise) within Title 7 (Public Health). Section 7.41.010 prohibits loud and unnecessary noise that disturbs reasonable persons, covering radios, musical instruments, motor vehicles, and amplified devices. Section 7.41.030 establishes zone-based decibel caps measured at minimum 25 feet from the source using an A-weighted sound level meter per ANSI standards: residential zones 55 dB(A) day (8:00 AM to 10:00 PM) and 50 dB(A) night (10:00 PM to 8:00 AM); commercial zones 60 dB(A) day and 55 dB(A) night; light industrial 70/65 dB(A); industrial 80/75 dB(A). Construction work is restricted to 7:00 AM through 10:00 PM under §7.41.010(b)(7). Peddlers and vendors using sound devices are barred between 10:00 PM and 8:00 AM under §7.41.010(b)(6).
