Edmond, OK Outdoor Lighting: Light Trespass & Shielding (2026)

Under Edmond's Site Design Standards, building-mounted security lighting may not project above a structure's fascia or roofline and must be shielded, with fixtures and shields painted to match the building or otherwise finished in a harmonious color. Security lights can't substitute for required parking-lot or walkway lighting; the code restricts them to loading docks, storage areas, service entrances and similar locations. These standards apply to new multiple-family and nonresidential development and redevelopment reviewed through site plan approval, not to single-family homes, alongside a separate 0.2-footcandle spillover cap onto adjoining residential lots.
