Vehicles without current tags, with missing parts (engines, tires, transmissions), that do not run, or cannot be readily started are considered junk or abandoned vehicles. Both property owners and occupants may be cited. Vehicles may be towed from private property, and violations are prosecuted through the Special Magistrate system under Jax Ord. Code Ch. 518.

Vehicles may be towed from private property, issued citations, or referred to the Special Magistrate. FL Β§715.07 governs towing from private property. On-street abandoned vehicles are subject to FL Β§316.1945 (72-hour limit).
Abandoned vehicles on public streets are towed after 72-hour notice ($200β$500 towing plus $30β$50/day storage). Junk vehicles on private property: 30-day compliance notice, then $100β$300 per day fines.
