Bonneville County, ID Parking Rules: Abandoned Vehicles (2026)

01(A) prohibits any vehicle that is not properly and currently licensed and in operating condition, along with stripped, dismantled or junked machinery, salvage material, debris, or vehicle bodies and parts, from being parked, stored or maintained on any road, street, sidewalk or highway in the unincorporated area. The same items cannot sit between the minimum building setback line and the road right-of-way on private property. In platted residential subdivisions, agricultural density subdivisions and residential zones, anything that is stored must sit behind the front face of the residential building and be screened by a maintained tarp, fence, garage or comparable structure allowed under the county's building and zoning codes; a screening gate must stay closed except during ingress or egress.

The code caps how much outdoor storage area these items can occupy: 300 square feet in R and MH zones, 600 square feet in RA, RP and R-F zones, and in A-1 and G-1 zones no more than 1% of the lot up to a 10,000 square foot ceiling, with contiguous commonly-owned parcels aggregated as one lot for this calculation.
