Rialto Municipal Code Chapter 9.26 (Ordinance 1210, 1994) makes it a misdemeanor to keep, store or maintain abandoned, wrecked, dismantled or inoperative vehicles or parts on any premises (Section 9.26.030). Independent of prosecution, the city administrator's agents may enter private or public property to examine and remove vehicles declared nuisances (Section 9.26.060). Abatement requires a ten-day mailed notice of intention to the landowner and vehicle owner (Section 9.26.100), a hearing is available on written request (Section 9.26.110), and removal plus administrative costs can be assessed against the land (Section 9.26.190). For vehicles abandoned in the street, the city directs residents to Rialto Police at (909) 820-2550.
