Chino Municipal Code 10.30.030 (Ord. 2021-005) makes it unlawful to store any commercial vehicle on private residential property for more than 3 hours in any 30-day period, and to park a commercial vehicle on any public or private property except while actively loading or unloading for up to 3 consecutive hours. 'Commercial vehicle' is defined in CMC 10.30.020.
Chino tightened its commercial-vehicle parking rules with Ordinance 2021-005, codified at Chapter 10.30 of the Municipal Code. Section 10.30.030 prohibits storing a commercial vehicle on any portion of private residential property, where 'stored' means leaving it on the same parcel for a cumulative total of more than 3 hours within any rolling 30-day period - a deliberately tight standard meant to stop drivers from bringing home box trucks, semis, dump trucks, tow trucks, and similar work vehicles to park overnight in residential neighborhoods. The same section prohibits leaving any commercial vehicle parked on public or private property unless it is being actively loaded or unloaded, with a maximum 3 consecutive hours for that activity. Commercial vehicle definitions tie to CMC 10.30.020 and California Vehicle Code 260 (vehicles used or maintained for transportation of persons for hire, compensation, profit, or designed/used to transport property). Trucks over 10,000 lbs gross vehicle weight, vehicles with commercial markings/lettering, and tractor-trailer combinations are typical targets. Truck route designations and weight restrictions are separately enforced under Title 10. Statewide rule CVC 22507.5 also lets cities restrict heavy-vehicle residential parking between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. with posted signs.
Administrative citation under CMC Title 1 - typical California schedule $100 first / $200 second / $500 third per CA Gov Code 36900. Vehicle subject to tow at owner's expense under California Vehicle Code 22651. Repeat violations may be cited as a misdemeanor or referred to the City Attorney for civil injunctive relief. Operating a commercial business from a residence using parked commercial vehicles also violates Title 20 home-occupation rules.
