Hesperia, CA Parking Rules: Commercial Vehicle Restrictions (2026)

Hesperia Municipal Code Title 16, Chapter 16.20 sets residential and non-residential parking standards specific to commercial vehicles, and Title 10, Chapter 10.25 establishes the City's truck route program. Per the Residential Truck Parking Permit Program, a commercial vehicle is defined as any vehicle with a manufacturer's GVWR of 26,000 lbs or more. Such vehicles parked on residential or agricultural property must be registered with the City and must comply with parking-out-of-setback rules and prohibitions on front-yard or side-yard parking as applicable under Ch. 16.20. Effective September 22, 2021, properties of less than one full acre are no longer eligible for the program; all eligible properties are limited to a maximum of two commercial vehicles regardless of lot size. Fees: the first two trucks and two trailers are free; additional trucks $100/year, additional trailers $400/year. A moratorium on issuance of new Residential Commercial Truck Parking Permits has been in effect since November 3, 2021 (90 days after adoption of Ordinance 2021-03). Per HMC §10.25.050, all streets in Hesperia other than designated through truck routes are restricted streets; the City Manager designates through truck routes with signage at City entrances. Permitted operators must take the shortest route from a Hesperia-adopted truck route to their residence/destination, with allowance to deviate by direct route for pickups, deliveries, or construction/repair. Statewide, Cal. Veh. Code §22507.5 also authorizes the City to restrict on-street commercial-vehicle parking.
