In the City of Lorain, parking or storing tractor-trailers, semi-trailers, and trucks over one ton is prohibited on private property in any residential or business district. Terminals and construction sites are exceptions.
Lorain County leaves commercial-vehicle parking to its cities and townships. Lorain's Zoning Code Sec. 14.04 flatly prohibits parking or storing tractor-trailers, agricultural tractors, trucks over one-ton capacity, semi-trailers, pole trailers, industrial units, and moving vans on private property in residential or business districts. Storage is only allowed at commercial truck terminals, construction or demolition sites, designated loading docks, or for emergency repairs. Overnight commercial-vehicle parking is likewise barred except at approved sites. Elyria and each township have their own comparable limits.
Cited by Lorain zoning enforcement as a violation; owners are ordered to remove the vehicle, with escalating civil penalties for repeat offenses.
