Hillsboro, OR Parking Rules: Commercial & Oversized Vehicles (2026)

HMC 8.20.010(A) bars any truck or vehicle weighing 16,000 pounds or more from Hillsboro streets other than a specific list of designated routes, major arterials like Baseline Street, Tualatin Valley Highway, Cornelius Pass Road, Brookwood Parkway and 10th Avenue among about a dozen others named section by section, with an exception letting trucks serving a destination in the City take the closest practical route from one of those designated streets. Subsection (B) goes further for parking specifically: trucks, truck tractors or truck trailers weighing 10,000 pounds or more cannot be parked within the right-of-way of any public street in the City at all, except a truck licensed under ORS Chapter 825 while actually making a delivery or providing a service to a City destination.

HMC 8.20.020 layers on more restrictions once a qualifying truck is legitimately on a street: subsection (A) bars parking in any manner that obstructs a traffic lane or a motorist's vision, subsection (B) limits a truck carrying flammable or dangerous materials to stopping only to pick up or deliver those materials, obey traffic controls, or avoid a collision, and subsection (C) bans any commercial vehicle over 40 feet long from NE Parksedge Circle specifically. Separately, HMC 8.12.020(D), inside the general parking-time-limits section, caps any truck, truck trailer or large commercial vehicle at 30 minutes on a street, sidewalk, bicycle path or lane, or parking strip wherever no sign or marking states otherwise, unless the vehicle is there for a purpose connected to the adjacent property and there's enough street width left for other vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians to pass safely. Alternate routes are allowed under HMC 8.20.030 when a driver can show the destination can't be reached otherwise, and HMC 8.20.040 puts the burden of posting the route signs on the City itself.
