Full Breakdown

In a designated loading zone during its posted hours, a vehicle can't stop, stand or park for anything other than expeditiously loading or unloading cargo, and only commercial-related vehicles may use the space at all, for up to 30 consecutive minutes. Passenger loading zones work the same way under HMC 8.12.050, limited strictly to loading or unloading passengers with no stated time cap. Backing in to load heavy cargo must be done at no more than a 45-degree angle from the curb per HMC 8.12.040(B).

Violations & Fines

Parking in a loading zone for a non-loading purpose, or past the 30-minute cargo limit, is a citable parking violation under HMC 8.24.030 and can result in towing.
