Orange, CA Parking Rules: Commercial & Oversized Vehicles (2026)

060 of the Orange Municipal Code prohibits leaving standing, on any public street, alley, public property, or in residentially developed areas even private property, any motor truck, truck tractor or trailer that has any two of four features: a wheel rim 17 inches or larger in diameter, more than two axles, more than two wheels on one axle, or a storage bed or platform longer than 16 feet (this last feature applies only in residentially developed areas). The same section bars any bus as defined by the California Vehicle Code, farm machines, special-purpose machines and unlicensed vehicles.

Subsection G separately restricts oversized vehicles, defined as any vehicle or combination exceeding 22 feet in length or 84 inches in width, from residential parking, with limited exceptions: two consecutive days for loading/unloading immediately adjacent to the registered owner's residence, or a Chief of Police permit (renewed annually) for an owner whose oversized vehicle was their sole transportation as of the May 12, 2004 effective date, or up to seven consecutive days for a visiting non-resident with a permit (capped at six permits per address annually).

A permit applicant who submits false information commits a misdemeanor, and a permit violator is barred from a new permit for six months. In commercial or industrial areas, any commercial vehicle parked overnight must display at least three reflective triangular delineators spaced over 100 feet behind it. "Residentially developed area" means a quarter-mile stretch with 13+ dwelling units on one side or 16+ on both sides of the highway.
