Port St. Lucie makes it unlawful to park any commercial vehicle, bus, or heavy equipment in a residential zone or on abutting streets. A commercial vehicle means one with a gross vehicle weight of 10,000 pounds or more, or certain trucks and vans storing equipment.
Port St. Lucie's Section 72.03 declares it unlawful to park a commercial vehicle, bus, or heavy equipment in any residential zone or on streets abutting residentially zoned lots. A commercial vehicle is one designed for carriage of goods at 10,000 pounds GVW or more, carrying more than ten passengers, or hauling hazardous materials, plus lighter dump trucks, tow trucks, flatbeds, step vans, and pickups or vans openly storing equipment. Limited exceptions cover active deliveries, permitted construction, brief disabled-vehicle emergencies, fully enclosed garaging, and pickups or vans parking up to one hour between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. Unincorporated county rules likewise bar vehicles over 10,000 pounds GVW or with dual axles from residential zones.
A first offense under Section 72.03 is a $100 fine, $150 for a second offense, and $250 for a third and subsequent offense, plus possible towing.
