Walker County, GA Parking Rules: Commercial & Oversized Vehicles (2026)

Walker County's zoning code singles out the R-1 single-family residential district for extra vehicle restrictions, layered on top of the general use table in § 22-148. A vehicle with more than 2 axles cannot be parked in R-1 at all, with one narrow exception: an owner who is a resident of the subdivision may keep 1 such vehicle on their own private property. Through-traffic by vehicles with more than 2 axles is separately prohibited on R-1 streets, though the code carves out garbage trucks, utility company trucks doing maintenance or repair work, and trucks used to move a resident in or out.

This sits alongside 5 other R-1-only conditions in the same subsection: accessory buildings must sit at least 15 feet from side and rear lines and cannot go on a vacant lot, new construction has to match the size and character of existing homes in an established subdivision, and junk vehicles must stay out of sight from the county road right-of-way. Because these are R-1-specific rules, they do not carry over automatically to A-1, R-A or the county's other residential districts, which are governed instead by the general use table.
