West Bloomfield, MI Parking Rules: Commercial & Oversized Vehicles (2026)

Section 10-111(b) of the Charter Township of West Bloomfield Code of Ordinances lists the commercial and non-passenger vehicles residents may not park or store outdoors on residential property: delivery, box, flatbed, platform, panel, refrigerator, tow, dump, garbage, stake and cube trucks, transport vehicles, tractor units, cab-forward trucks, semi-tractors with or without trailers, buses and limousines. The only way to keep one of these vehicles on a residential lot is to house it entirely within an enclosed structure, such as a garage; there is no outdoor storage exception for size or duration otherwise.

A narrow carve-out lets non-passenger vehicles used by contractors, service providers, or delivery persons remain on the property only for the time period they are actually servicing that residence, so a plumber's box truck may sit in the driveway during a job but not overnight as regular storage. By contrast, § 10-111(a) affirmatively permits ordinary passenger vehicles, including cars, vans, pickup trucks, SUVs and crossovers. Violations of § 10-111(b) are enforced by the township's Planning and Development department and the West Bloomfield Police Department under the Division 3 penalty scheme at § 10-119: a $150 fine for a first municipal civil infraction and $300 for a second or subsequent violation within two years, plus the township's costs of prosecution.

Each day the truck remains parked in violation is treated as a separate offense. The Township Board adopted this article by Ordinance No. C-483-D on May 13, 2019.
