Orlando, FL Parking Rules: Curb Color Rules (2026)

§ 39.16 of the Orlando City Code lists the places where stopping, standing, or parking a vehicle is flatly prohibited, 'except when necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic or in compliance with the directions of a police officer or traffic-control device.' Subsection (1)(p) puts painted curbs on that list: it is unlawful to park 'alongside any curb which has been painted yellow or red, unless otherwise specifically permitted by appropriate signs or devices posted by the City.' Because the exception runs through posted signage rather than the color alone, a red or yellow curb without a sign carve-out is a strict no-parking zone regardless of how briefly a driver stops.

This is distinct from Orlando's orange-curb marking under § 39.19 and § 39.24(2), which designates freight loading zones where permitted vehicles may stop for loading during posted hours, orange curbs allow a controlled, permitted use, while red and yellow curbs under § 39.16(1)(p) generally do not. The fee schedule in § 39.68(2) treats the violation as its own line item separate from generic 'parking prohibited by sign,' pricing 'No parking, yellow or red curb' at the same rate charged for blocking a driveway, parking on a sidewalk, or parking within 30 feet of a stop sign.

Enforcement falls to police officers, community service officers, and parking enforcement specialists under §§ 39.05 and 39.29, who may also tow a vehicle from a red-curb zone if it is obstructing traffic or creating a safety hazard under § 39.29(2).
