Columbia, MO Parking Rules: Driveway Rules (2026)

Table 4.1-5 of Columbia's Unified Development Code, in Boone County, sets maximum driveway widths as a yard-area exception. Single- and two-family driveways serving up to a 2-car garage may be up to 20 feet wide in any front, rear, side, or corner side yard; a 3-car garage allows up to 28 feet; and a shared duplex driveway allows up to 36 feet. These residential driveways must keep a 5-foot setback from the side property line and cannot occupy more than 50 percent of the lot width. Multi-family, commercial, and mixed-use driveways may be up to 42 feet wide without a turning analysis, with a 10-foot setback from any side line adjacent to a residential district.
