Fountain, CO Parking Rules: Driveway Rules (2026)

Fountain's Off-Street Parking chapter, rewritten citywide by Ordinance No. 020: new construction, an addition or enlargement, or any change of use that increases building or land area. 100(B) sets the surface standard directly: the area must be properly graded for drainage, surfaced in portland cement concrete or another material the city engineer approves, and built to city specifications. The same subsection imposes an ongoing maintenance duty, banning weeds, dust, potholes and debris once the surface is in. 030 backs this up by making the property owner responsible for upkeep and letting the zoning administrator order resurfacing or restriping if the area falls into disrepair.

020. 100(F) bars any vehicle from overhanging a property line, walkway, landscaped area or bicycle path, and requires a seven-foot sidewalk anywhere overhang is allowed. 100(G) exempts them from striping their spaces, an exemption every other use lacks, but the paved-surface and weed/dust/pothole maintenance duty in subsection (B) is not on that exemption list, so a bare dirt or gravel front-yard parking pad does not satisfy the code inside city limits.
