Summary
Essex County reserves signed EV charging stalls for actively charging electric vehicles and fines gas cars or idle EVs that park there.
Electric vehicle charging stations on County-owned and/or leased property shall be reserved for charging electric vehicles only. Electric vehicles shall be connected to EVSE and actively charging. It shall be a violation of this chapter for an electric vehicle to remain stopped, standing, or parked in an electric vehicle charging station if it is not connected to the EVSE or after the charge is complete.
C. Nonelectric vehicles are prohibited from stopping, standing, and parking at any electric vehicle charging station.
§ 131-3. Violations and penalties.
A. Any person who violates § 131-2B shall be liable, upon conviction thereof, to a fine of $50.
B. Any person who violates § 131-2C shall be liable, upon conviction thereof, to a fine of $100.
