The Town of Apple Valley Municipal Code does not impose a local EV-charging-space mandate or dedicated EV parking ordinance. Electric-vehicle charging follows statewide California law — CALGreen building standards and the streamlined permitting required of cities by Government Code section 65850.7.
A review of the Town of Apple Valley's parking chapters (Chapter 9.72 off-street parking and loading, and Title 12 vehicles and traffic) found no local requirement mandating EV charging stations in new development and no dedicated 'EV-only' parking-enforcement ordinance. As a result, electric-vehicle charging in Apple Valley is governed primarily by statewide California requirements rather than a town-specific rule. The California Green Building Standards Code (CALGreen, Title 24, Part 11) sets the EV-capable and EV-ready parking requirements that apply to new residential and nonresidential construction statewide, and California Government Code section 65850.7 requires every city and county to adopt an ordinance providing an expedited, streamlined permitting process for electric-vehicle charging stations. Apple Valley issues building and electrical permits for residential charger installations through its Building Division. On the enforcement side, California Vehicle Code section 22511 restricts non-electric vehicles from parking in spaces designated and marked for EV charging. Because the Town has not layered its own EV parking ordinance on top of these, drivers and builders should rely on the statewide framework and confirm current permit requirements with the Town's Building Division.
There is no Town-specific EV parking citation; parking a non-charging or non-electric vehicle in a marked EV charging space is enforced under California Vehicle Code section 22511.
