Stamford, CT Parking Rules: EV Charging (2026)

Section 12.L of the Zoning Regulations (current through May 31, 2026) kicks in once a Development requires 10 or more off-street parking spaces. In multi-family projects like condos or townhouses where each unit gets its own assigned space, one space per unit must be wired for a Level 2 wall box (the box itself isn't mandatory). Unassigned guest parking needs Electric Vehicle charging on 10% of spaces, with at least one charging space required whenever there are more than 3 but fewer than 10 guest spaces. Charging spaces must fit adapters for the widest range of vehicles and can't cost drivers more than the electricity itself plus a 10% convenience fee.
