Full Breakdown

Sec. 231-6 of Stamford's Code of Ordinances lists the places where stopping, standing or parking is prohibited, graded into Class II, III and IV violations. Obstructing a public or private driveway is a Class II violation; parking the wrong way against the flow of traffic, double-parking at the curb, or stopping on a sidewalk or crosswalk are Class III violations; parking in a handicapped space without a permit or within an intersection is Class IV. The City may tow any vehicle found in violation, and the vehicle is not released until the owner proves identity, pays towing and storage fees, and settles all outstanding parking penalties.

Violations & Fines

Class II violations run $50, Class III $80, Class IV $120 (handicapped-space parking without a permit is $175); unpaid fines double after 15 days and triple after 30, capped at $250 under Sec. 231-7.
