Doña Ana County, NM Parking Rules: Loading Zones (2026)

Doña Ana County's Unified Development Code, Chapter 350, sets loading standards under § 350-304Q, Parking and loading location and design, which governs the L, M, R and H Development Intensities across the unincorporated county (Las Cruces, Sunland Park, Mesilla and Hatch enforce their own municipal codes). Any building or portion of a building that moves large volumes of goods to or from vehicles must provide and maintain off-street loading space: one space for each whole 10,000-square-foot increment of floor area devoted to the use. Each loading space must be at least 12 feet wide and 45 feet long, with a minimum of 14 feet of overhead clearance from the pavement.

Loading and unloading areas must be positioned so vehicles can maneuver safely to and from the right-of-way or an adjoining parking aisle, and except where the loading area faces a thoroughfare, it must be screened from view from the property's primary and secondary frontages; raised loading docks must likewise be screened. , a curfew meant to limit truck noise and traffic near residential and mixed-use frontages during nighttime hours. The Zoning Administrator holds discretion to authorize different hours for a specific site, but absent that approval the 7-to-10 window controls.
