Glenn County, CA Parking Rules: Loading Zones (2026)

Chapter 11.12, dating to Ordinance 384 in 1960, is Glenn County's only codified loading zone. Section 11.12.010 lays out a single zone in the unincorporated community of Hamilton City: a forty-foot-wide strip along the westerly right-of-way of Broadway, running four hundred feet south from the southwest corner of Broadway and Sixth Street. The code restricts use of that strip to loading and unloading passengers or freight, and only between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.; outside those hours, or for any other purpose, the loading zone carries no special exemption from the county's general parking rules.

Section 11.12.020 assigns the County Road Commissioner responsibility for marking Broadway so the loading zone is visible to drivers, mirroring the sign-and-curb-marking requirement the county uses for other on-street parking restrictions under Chapter 11.08. Because Chapter 11.12 does not include its own violations or fine schedule, a driver who parks in the Hamilton City loading zone outside the permitted hours, or who uses the space for something other than loading or unloading, is enforced through the county's general parking-penalty machinery in Sections 11.08.030 through 11.08.120: a civil penalty rather than a criminal citation, with fines set by Board resolution and a vehicle cited five or more times in five days subject to seizure.
