Loading zones in unincorporated Stanislaus County are governed by Title 11, Chapter 11.12 (Loading Zones). Code Sec. 11.12.010 authorizes yellow curb zones, citing Vehicle Code 21458, under which a yellow-painted curb indicates stopping only for the purpose of loading or unloading passengers or freight for such time as may be specified. Code Sec. 11.12.030 authorizes white curb zones, citing Vehicle Code 21458(c), which requires the color white for loading and unloading of passengers for such time as may be specified. The chapter also provides for the county to establish where these yellow and white zones are located (Code Secs. 11.12.020 and 11.12.040). These zones are effective only where the curb is actually painted and where signs or markings give adequate notice. A driver may stop in a yellow zone only to actively load or unload freight or passengers within the posted time, and in a white zone only for passenger loading; parking beyond loading activity is prohibited.
