Brownsville, TX Parking Rules: Overnight Parking (2026)

Section 98-167 makes it unlawful to leave a vehicle standing or parked on any street, alley, avenue, or public way for more than 72 hours continuously. That is the operative limit; the city imposes no separate overnight or early-morning restriction. Section 98-301 lets the city manager set parking time limits between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on days other than Sundays and designated holidays, and only in areas zoned other than residential and outside meter zones. Section 98-166 bars a person from habitually parking on the street abutting a residence they neither own nor occupy. Section 98-162 authorizes impoundment after 48 hours unattended, with 24 hours' extra written notice when the vehicle sits in front of its owner's own property.
