Cedar Hill allows overnight on-street parking on most residential streets. Vehicles cannot remain in the same spot for more than 72 consecutive hours, must face traffic direction, and cannot block driveways, mailboxes, or hydrants (15 ft).
Cedar Hill does not impose a citywide overnight on-street parking ban. Passenger vehicles may park overnight on most residential streets unless the street has posted 'No Parking' signs (common on narrow cul-de-sacs, near schools, and on emergency-access lanes). The city does enforce a 72-hour rule: any vehicle that has not moved more than a minimum distance within 72 consecutive hours can be tagged as abandoned and towed under TX Transportation Code Ch. 683. Vehicles must be parked facing the direction of travel, within 18 inches of the curb, and may not block driveways (any portion), mailboxes (during USPS delivery hours), fire hydrants (15 ft each side), crosswalks (20 ft), or stop signs (30 ft). RVs, boats, trailers, and commercial vehicles over 1-ton GVWR cannot be stored on the public street and must be screened on the property under Ch. 50 vehicle storage rules. HOA streets in Lake Ridge and other private-street communities follow HOA rules instead.
Parking citations from $25-$100; tow under the 72-hour rule per Ch. 683. Repeat blocking of driveways/hydrants escalates to higher fines. RV/trailer storage violations are pursued by Code Enforcement.
