Loveland, CO Parking Rules: Overnight Parking (2026)

The City adopts the Colorado Department of Transportation's 2020 Model Traffic Code by reference under § 10.04.010, then amends specific sections in § 10.04.020. Item L of that section rewrites Model Traffic Code Section 1202 to add a Loveland-specific overnight limit: on any street where the City has posted signs prohibiting all-night parking, a vehicle cannot remain longer than 30 minutes between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m., with the sole exception of physicians or other persons responding to emergency calls. The restriction is sign-dependent citywide, applying street-by-street wherever the traffic engineer has posted the prohibition under the traffic control schedule authority in § 10.08.020, rather than as a blanket ban on every residential street.

Separately, § 10.20.030 imposes a distinct 72-hour cap specifically on trailer coaches, camper coaches, camper trailers and motor homes parked on any public street or alley regardless of signage, and bars using such a vehicle for sleeping while parked there. Ordinary passenger vehicles without dwelling features are not subject to that 72-hour rule, only to the signed all-night restriction in § 10.04.020 and, in residential zones, to the separate one-hour oversized-vehicle limit in § 10.20.040. Vehicles left in violation of a properly posted all-night sign are subject to citation and, if left obstructing traffic, may be towed under the abandoned and illegally parked vehicle procedures in Chapter 10.28.
