Mason County, WA Parking Rules: Overnight Parking (2026)

Section 10.52.410 creates two site-specific limited parking zones rather than a countywide overnight rule. Subsection (a) restricts parking on the west side of Madrona Drive near Sequoia Street to school-day hours only, posted "No Stopping or Standing Vehicles 7:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. on School Days." Subsection (b) is the county's overnight parking rule: on Public Access Road No. 58110, overnight parking is defined for enforcement as occupying space within or along the road for more than two hours total between 9:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.

The same subsection bans parking at any hour, day or night, within a twenty-foot radius of the fire hydrant at the road's southwest corner. Subsection (b)(2) directs the county engineer to post signs reading "2 Hour Parking - 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.," so the restriction is enforceable only where that specific signage is in place. Subsection (b)(3) makes a violation a misdemeanor outright, rather than leaving it to the Title 10 general penalty in Section 10.56.070, though the two provisions carry similar exposure since Section 10.56.070 sets the baseline fine and jail term for Title 10 misdemeanors generally.

Mason County has not extended this two-hour, 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. limit to other county roads by ordinance; each limited parking zone required its own board action, here Ordinance 47-84 in 1984.
