Meriden, CT Parking Rules: Overnight Parking (2026)

Section 213-42(B) is a separate rule from the residential-district ban in Section 213-42(A): it reaches every public street citywide, not just streets in residential zones, and it is limited to overnight parking rather than parking or storage generally. 'As defined above' ties the subsection to the same three-fourths-ton threshold and the same station wagon, compact bus and private pickup exemptions set out in Subsection A, so a driver of an exempt vehicle can leave it on the street overnight without violating this rule. The Zoning Enforcement Officer enforces the subsection under Section 213-64's general zoning enforcement authority, and a violation is billed at the reduced $50-per-day rate the Code sets for commercial-vehicle and RV/trailer/boat violations under Section 213-71(2)(b).

As with any zoning citation, the officer must first serve written notice of the violation; a citation issues only once the truck remains 30 days after that notice, and each additional overnight violation is a separate offense that can be cited again. A driver who disputes the citation may request a hearing under Chapter 86 and C.G.S. § 7-152c before paying the fine.
