Spalding County, GA Parking Rules: Overnight Parking (2026)

Under Sec. 7-1010(a), the overnight ban applies specifically to property belonging to Spalding County that has been posted with a sign stating overnight and/or unauthorized parking is prohibited; a vehicle, trailer, tractor, or any wheeled vehicle, motorized or not, left there overnight is in violation of the chapter. Sec. 7-1010(b) authorizes removal of any offending vehicle, and the cost of that removal falls on the vehicle's owner rather than the county. Sec. 7-1010(c) requires the warning sign itself to double as a notice: it must tell the public where a towed vehicle can be recovered, what the recovery will cost, and what forms of payment the county or its towing contractor will accept, so a driver who is towed has a defined path to get the vehicle back rather than relying on a case-by-case call to the sheriff's office.

This section, titled "Trespass towing for vehicles parked on property of Spalding County," was added by Ord. No. 2003-08 in 2003 and sits in the same traffic chapter as the county's street no-parking zones, the school-zone speed limits, and the general Chapter 7 violations clause at Sec. 7-1008, which supplies the fine-and-imprisonment penalty for the chapter when a section, like this one, does not spell out its own penalty. Because the rule turns on signage rather than a blanket county-wide curfew, the practical restriction applies wherever the county has actually posted a no-overnight-parking sign, such as county building lots, parks, and other county-owned parcels, rather than on ordinary residential streets.
