Matanuska-Susitna Borough, AK Parking Rules: RV & Boat Parking (2026)

Chapter 17.75 establishes the Single-Family Residential (SFR) Land Use District, a special land use district the borough applies only to the specific subdivisions listed in § 17.75.035: Canoe Lake Subdivision, Chugach View Estates and Wilderness East Subdivision. It is not a borough-wide zoning rule. Within those districts, § 17.75.060(A) permits one single-family dwelling per lot as the principal use, and § 17.75.060(B) lists accessory uses and structures that are clearly secondary and incidental to that dwelling. Subsection (B)(2) permits noncommercial outdoor storage of trucks, boats, campers, and travel trailers, so long as it is done in a safe and orderly manner; the code does not set a numeric count, size or setback specific to this stored equipment.

All accessory uses and structures on the lot, including any covered storage structure built for the equipment, are still capped in total footprint at 150 percent of the principal dwelling's square footage under §§ 17.75.060(B)(1) and 17.75.150(B), and are subject to the setback requirements of MSB Chapter 17.55 through § 17.75.160.
