Newark, OH Parking Rules: RV & Boat Parking (2026)

Section 1240.09 of the Newark Code of Ordinances splits the subject in two. First, no person in the City of Newark, Ohio can occupy a travel trailer, motor home, or similar type vehicle as a living unit, rooming unit, sleeping unit, or a dwelling unit unless the vehicle is located in a campground or similar park that has been approved for such use. Second, the parking or storage of an unoccupied vehicle of this type is permitted outside an approved campground or similar park. Nothing in § 1240.09 itself limits where on a residential lot the unoccupied vehicle sits, and the zoning sections read for this page do not mention boats or boat trailers.

Other rules still touch the vehicle. Section 1240.08 bars any truck or similar motor vehicle over a gross vehicle weight rating of 12,000 pounds from being parked in an R-District on property whose primary use is residential, except in a fully enclosed garage or similar structure. Section 1248.06(b)(2) prohibits the long-term parking or storage of vehicle(s) associated with a business on a lot in the single-family districts. On the road, § 440.08 of the Traffic Code forbids occupying a travel trailer, fifth wheel trailer, or manufactured or mobile home while it is being used as a conveyance upon a street or highway, with an exception for a fifth wheel trailer when any child riding in it is properly secured and the operator towing it has some means of viable communication with the passengers.
