Sparks, NV Parking Rules: RV & Boat Parking (2026)

Sparks Municipal Code § 20.03.035 governs where residents may park recreational vehicles, boats and trailers on residential lots. Subsection B requires legal title to the RV be held by a resident of the property where it's stored, and a loaded trailer carrying an RV can count as a single unit if it can be safely towed on the street. Front-yard storage is capped at two recreational vehicles, confined to an approved, curb-cut driveway surfaced in concrete, asphalt or paving stones, the strip between the driveway and the nearest side yard line, or a defined area near the front wall of the house, each with its own surface and setback requirements (C.2). Vehicles stored in the front yard must maintain at least one foot of clearance from any public sidewalk or street, including the tongue or hitch (C.2.d).

Up to two more recreational vehicles are allowed in the side or rear yard without screening; beyond that, additional units need a six-foot opaque fence or landscaping of comparable height to block public view (C.3). RVs, boats and trailers can never be permanently connected to sewer, water or electric lines, used for storage of unrelated goods, used as a dwelling, or parked on a public street, alley or parking lot (D). Owners of lots at least 12,000 square feet can apply to the Administrator for a one-year waiver of the location standards, renewable annually, provided no more than two RVs sit within 20 feet of any property line and the owner isn't paid for the storage (E).
