In Sparks residential and commercial districts, no vehicle or trailer over 24 feet long may park on the street, and trucks over 4,000 pounds per axle unladen are barred from residential areas except for active loading or service. Unattached commercial trailers can't park on public streets.
Sparks Municipal Code section 10.48.030 makes it unlawful to park any vehicle, trailer, or combination over 24 feet long on streets in council-designated residential or commercial districts. Trucks and commercial vehicles exceeding 4,000 pounds per axle unladen weight, up to a 12,000-pound cap, may not park in residential districts except while actively loading, unloading, or performing service, repair, or construction nearby. Owners also may not leave a commercial trailer or semi-trailer detached from its tractor on any public street, highway, alley, or parking lot. These rules keep heavy rigs and long trailers out of neighborhoods overnight.
Violations are parking offenses subject to citation and fines, with escalating penalties for repeat offenses; illegally parked trailers and rigs may be towed at the owner's expense.
