Taylor, TX Parking Rules: RV & Boat Parking (2026)

Section 17-282 of the Code of Ordinances targets long vehicles left on Taylor's streets rather than in driveways or yards. Subsection (a) makes it unlawful to park a boat, recreational vehicle, farm implement or a trailer attached to a motor vehicle on any residential street for more than 24 hours; once that period runs, the vehicle must be moved or it is in violation regardless of whether it is blocking traffic. , again with no requirement that the vehicle be causing an obstruction. Subsection (c) goes further for unattached equipment: a trailer that is not hitched to a motor vehicle cannot be left on any public street at all.

All three rules carve out one specific exception, West First Street from Main Street to Fowzer Street, which the city council exempted by name rather than by a general standard. The ordinance was adopted by Ordinance No. 96-28 in 1997 and was never renumbered when the Code was recodified, so the section still reads as it did when the council passed it. Because Section 17-282 regulates the public street and right-of-way, not private property, it does not reach an RV or boat parked in a driveway or side yard; any limit on parking recreational vehicles on a homeowner's own lot would come from the city's separate 2024 Land Development Code rather than this traffic ordinance.
