Unincorporated Sacramento County Zoning Code restricts RV, boat, and trailer storage in residential zones. Generally allowed in side or rear yards with screening; front yard storage on driveways is limited to loading and unloading periods. No habitation of parked RVs on residential property.
Sacramento County Zoning Code Title 3 regulates storage of recreational vehicles, boats, and utility trailers in residential zones. RVs and boats may be stored on private property but must generally be located in the side or rear yard behind the front-yard setback, with screening from neighboring properties and the street. Short-term front-yard or driveway parking for loading, unloading, cleaning, or guest use is permitted (commonly up to 72 hours). Living in a parked RV on residential property is prohibited except in designated RV parks or with a temporary permit during construction of a primary dwelling. RVs must be operational and display current registration. On public streets, RVs and trailers are subject to the CVC 22651(k) 72-hour rule and CVC 22507.5 oversized vehicle restrictions where signed.
