Aurora, IL Parking Rules: Street Parking Limits (2026)

Except while momentarily engaged in the pickup or discharge of passengers, it shall be unlawful to stop, stand or park a vehicle or any part thereof in any of the following places: In front of, or within five (5) feet on either side of, a public or private driveway; At any curb within fifteen (15) feet of a fire hydrant; Within twenty (20) feet of any crosswalk; Within thirty (30) feet of any flashing signal, stop sign or other traffic-control signal located at the side of a roadway; Within twenty (20) feet of the driveway entrance to any fire station and, on the opposite side of the street, within seventy-five (75) feet of such an entrance; Within ten (10) feet of any mail box, Monday through Saturday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., except on postal holidays. (Exemption: This section shall not apply to residents parked in front of their mailbox only). At any place where official signs prohibit standing. Except while temporarily engaged in the act of loading or unloading merchandise or passengers, it shall be unlawful to stop, stand or park a vehicle in any of the following places: Within fifty (50) feet of the nearest rail of a railroad crossing; At any place where official signs prohibit parking, unless a valid parking permit issued by the city is properly displayed in said vehicle. No person shall move a vehicle not lawfully under his control into any such prohibited area or away from a curb such a distance as is unlawful.
