Clinton Township, MI Parking Rules: Street Parking Limits (2026)

04 of the Codified Ordinances lists the places where the Clinton Township Police Department will not allow a vehicle to stand or park: on a sidewalk, in front of or across a public or private driveway, within an intersection, within twenty feet of a crosswalk (or fifteen feet of an intersection's property lines where no crosswalk is marked), within thirty feet of the approach to a traffic signal or stop sign, within fifteen feet of a fire hydrant, and on any bridge, fire route, or spot the Township has posted as off-limits.

05 sets the mechanics for lawful parking: wheels must run parallel to the curb and sit within twelve inches of the right-hand curb line, and angle parking is prohibited everywhere except streets the Township has specifically signed for it. On one-way streets a driver may stop at the left-hand curb, but only headed in the direction of travel, which is how the code bars parking against the flow of traffic. 06 separately forbids stopping or parking in the strip between the curb and the adjacent private property unless a traffic sign expressly allows it.

02. None of these prohibitions apply when a driver must stop to avoid a traffic conflict, comply with the law, or follow a police officer's or traffic-control device's direction.
