Section 150-22(5) sets the default orientation for on-street parking citywide: every vehicle parking on a public street must sit parallel to the curb line, facing the direction of traffic, on the right side of the street. The only exception is a one-way street, where parking on the left side is allowed unless a sign says otherwise. Parking against traffic, or at an angle, is prohibited outside the small list of streets the section names for angle parking, such as stretches of James Street, Wisconsin Street, Allard Street and Charles Street, where vehicles must line up at the angle marked by signs, pavement lines or curbs.

Subsection (6), overtime parking, bars leaving a vehicle in a public street, alley, parking mall or public lot longer than the time posted for that space, with the specific areas and limits catalogued in Schedule G. Subsection (7) backs that with a general prohibition on parking against any posted regulatory sign, listing the sign types the city actually uses: no parking, no parking here to corner, no standing/stopping/parking between signs, no parking during school hours, loading zone, twenty-minute and three-hour parking windows, and several seasonal and event-specific restrictions tied to Schedule G locations.

Separately, section 150-9(b)(4) lets a traffic officer order a vehicle towed as an emergency situation when it is parked "in such a manner as to block ingress and egress to any parking facility or private drive," which covers a car left across a driveway apron on the street side. Sections 150-22(5) through (7) were last amended by Ordinance No. 25-10 in September 2025.
