De Pere, WI Parking Rules: Overnight Parking (2026)

Section 150-22(2)a sets De Pere's baseline overnight parking rule: no person can permit a trailer, camper, other towable property, or a motor vehicle registered in their name or under their custody to sit on any street, alleyway, parking mall, public parking lot or other public off-street parking area between 2:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m., Monday through Friday. Because the ban runs weeknights only, ordinary weekend overnight parking on a public street is not covered by this clause.

Subsection (2)b lists four exceptions. Vehicles holding a long-term parking permit under subsection (3), and vehicles in areas the city has posted for 24-hour parking, are exempt outright. The ban also lifts the day before, the day of, and the day after eight named holidays: January 1, Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, the Friday after Thanksgiving, and December 24 and 25. Finally, the police department can grant an individual exception to a resident who shows "good cause," defined as a circumstance such as driveway construction, overnight houseguests, or a medical condition that makes parking on private property impractical. Requests go to police department staff during business hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., or to the sergeant on duty after hours. No address can draw more than three consecutive exception days or fifteen total exception days in a calendar year unless the police department finds the resident's good cause continues through no fault of their own, and no exception overrides a declared snow emergency.

Subsection (2)c lets the street superintendent order a vehicle towed at the owner's expense, on top of any forfeiture, if it interferes with snow removal or another public purpose. The section was last amended by Ordinance No. 25-10 on September 16, 2025.
