Georgetown regulates on-street parking through Chapter 10.16 of its Code of Ordinances. Downtown Square streets carry a 3-hour limit from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays, while residential streets restrict large and commercial vehicles within 300 feet of a residence.
On-street parking in Georgetown is governed by the City Code of Ordinances, Title 10 (Vehicles and Traffic), Chapter 10.16. Around the downtown Square, on-street parking is free but limited to three consecutive hours; a 2024 ordinance amending Section 10.16.150 expanded the three-hour limit to additional sections of Sixth Street, South Main Street and Church Street, enforced 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays effective December 1, 2024. Existing 15-minute spaces were not changed. Two part-time downtown parking ambassadors monitor the numbered spaces: they issue warnings for a first overrun and parking tickets for repeat violations, with fines payable to Georgetown Municipal Court. On residential streets, Section 10.16.080.A prohibits commercial vehicles, trailers, motor homes and buses within a residential district or within 300 feet of a residence. Designated no-parking and limited-time zones are established under the city's parking sections (for example, Section 10.16.020 for limited-time zones). Where the city has not adopted a specific rule, the Texas Transportation Code governs basic stopping, standing and parking on public roadways.
Downtown overtime parking results in a warning for a first offense and a ticket for repeat violations, payable to Georgetown Municipal Court. Report problem parking to the Georgetown Police Department non-emergency line at 512-930-3510 or through the city's Code Compliance portal.
