Hutto, TX Parking Rules: Street Parking Limits (2026)

Hutto Code of Ordinances § 22.04.008(a) authorizes towing a vehicle from any public street under eleven listed circumstances, including subsection (a)(2): when a vehicle is illegally parked so as to block the entrance to a private driveway and moving it to another spot on the street is impracticable. Other grounds include obstructing a bridge or causeway, a reported stolen vehicle, an apparently abandoned vehicle, and parking in a posted "no parking zone." Once towed, § 22.04.008(b) requires the city to notify the registered owner and any lienholders by phone, in person, or under Texas Transportation Code section 683.012, and the vehicle is subject to sale at public auction if not reclaimed within 20 days.

An owner can reclaim the vehicle by paying towing, preservation, and storage charges, or get it back immediately by posting an appearance bond under § 22.04.008(d). Separately, § 22.04.042(a) makes it unlawful to stop, stand, or park in any area marked "no parking" by sign, pavement marking, or curb marking, except temporarily while a driver remains in the vehicle. The city may install additional no-parking signs consistent with the Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic-Control Devices under § 22.04.042(b). Fire lanes marked "Fire Zone" or "Fire Lane" carry the same stop/stand/park prohibition under § 22.04.042(c), and marked accessible parking spaces are restricted to vehicles displaying a wheelchair placard or plate under § 22.04.042(d). The Hutto Police Department enforces these street-parking rules citywide.
