Joliet limits street parking to 48 consecutive hours on any public street, alley, or public way under Section 19-138. During snowfall of 2 inches or more, parking is banned on most streets until snow removal is complete under Section 19-142.
Joliet Code of Ordinances Section 19-138 prohibits any person from parking or storing any vehicle on any public street, alley, or public way for more than 48 consecutive hours. Section 19-142 establishes a snow parking ban: whenever snowfall within any 24-hour period causes accumulation of 2 inches or more, parking is prohibited on streets where parking is normally permitted until snow removal operations are completed. Limited exceptions exist for a designated downtown area bounded by Raynor Avenue, Center Street, Mason Avenue, and Route 30. The city council may restrict parking and post signs under Section 19-140.
Parking violation fines as provided in Section 1-8. Downtown enforcement by Public Enforcement Officers carries a $30 fine. Snow ban violations subject to towing.
