Kent allows on-street parking on most residential streets with a 72-hour maximum per RCW 46.55.010. Posted no-parking zones, street-sweep days, and permit areas override general rules.
Under Kent City Code Title 9 and state law RCW 46.55.010, a vehicle may not remain parked on any Kent street for more than 72 continuous hours. Police can tag and then tow vehicles that exceed this limit even if they are legally registered. Many downtown Kent blocks (Meeker Street, Titus Street, Smith Street around Kent Station) are signed for 1, 2, or 3-hour limits during business hours, and enforcement is by chalk or license-plate recognition. Street sweeping in residential neighborhoods is signed with posted dates, and vehicles left out will be ticketed. No-parking fire lanes are marked with red curbs or signs. Parking within 5 feet of a driveway, 15 feet of a fire hydrant, or 30 feet of a stop sign is prohibited statewide. Oversize vehicles over 80 inches wide are separately restricted on residential streets.
