Renton Municipal Code Title 10 and RCW 46.55 govern on-street parking. Vehicles may not stay in one spot for more than 72 hours, and posted time limits, residential zones, and curb colors apply across the city.
Renton Municipal Code Chapter 10-10 and Chapter 10-12 regulate parking on public streets, adopting state law under RCW 46.55 for impound authority. Any vehicle left parked in the same location on a public street for more than 72 consecutive hours may be marked, cited, and impounded as abandoned. Parking is prohibited within 15 feet of a fire hydrant, 20 feet of a crosswalk at an intersection, 30 feet of a stop sign or traffic signal, and within 5 feet of a driveway. Vehicles must park within 12 inches of the curb and face the direction of travel. Downtown Renton and several commercial corridors post 2-hour or 4-hour time limits, and specific residential streets near The Landing and near transit have signed restrictions. Parking on sidewalks, planter strips, and in landscaped medians is banned. Citations begin around 40 dollars; blocking hydrants or fire lanes carries higher fines plus tow costs. Report parking problems to Renton Police non-emergency at (425) 430-7500.
