Kirkland, WA Parking Rules: Street Parking Limits (2026)

Kirkland Municipal Code Title 11 adopts the state Model Traffic Ordinance and supplements it with local rules for on-street parking. Under RCW 46.55.010 and KMC 11.72, vehicles may not remain parked in one location on any public street for more than 72 consecutive hours; beyond that point they may be tagged, ticketed, and impounded as abandoned. State law prohibits parking within 15 feet of a fire hydrant, 20 feet of a crosswalk at an intersection, 30 feet of a stop sign or traffic signal, and 5 feet of a driveway or alley entrance. Vehicles must park parallel to the curb, within 12 inches, facing the direction of travel on two-way streets. Downtown Kirkland, Juanita Village, and Totem Lake have signed time-limited and metered zones; violations of posted signs are enforced by parking enforcement officers. Overnight restrictions apply in some residential permit zones near Lake Washington and the Cross Kirkland Corridor. Vehicles blocking bike lanes, transit stops, or marked loading zones may be towed without warning.
