Norman, OK Parking Rules: Street Parking Limits (2026)

NCC 32-705 lists a dozen places a vehicle cannot be parked, stopped, or stood on any Norman street: on a bridge or elevated structure, on a crosswalk, in front of a public or private driveway, inside an intersection, in a bicycle lane, on railroad tracks, facing the wrong way against the flow of traffic (including cutting across a double solid yellow line to head-in park in a reverse-angle space), on the left side of a one-way street unless signed otherwise, alongside a street excavation, between a safety zone and the curb, in an alley narrower than ten feet of remaining clearance, or on a sidewalk. Separately, NCC 32-701 requires any vehicle standing at a curb to have its brake set, its motor off, and its right-hand wheels within 18 inches of the curb or roadway edge.

Enforcement leans on a legal presumption: NCC 32-704 presumes the registered owner of a vehicle cited for a parking violation is the person who parked it, shifting the burden to the owner to prove otherwise in court. Norman also layers a campus-specific rule onto the general list: NCC 32-707 bars parking any vehicle wider than 6 1/2 feet on the Campus Corner streets, including the 500 blocks of South University Boulevard and Buchanan Avenue and the 200 and 300 blocks of Boyd Street, between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m. Monday through Saturday. The Norman Police Department is the primary enforcing agency under NCC 32-105.
