Even with no posted sign, New Orleans Sec. 154-923 bans parking on sidewalks, in intersections and crosswalks, within 3 feet of a driveway, within 15 feet of a fire hydrant, and within 20 feet of a corner, crosswalk or stop sign.
Sec. 154-923 lists 'places where stopping or parking is prohibited; no signs required' β your car can be ticketed with no warning. Prohibited spots include sidewalks (154-923(a)(1)), within 3 feet of a driveway (a)(2), inside an intersection (a)(3), within 15 feet of a fire hydrant (a)(4), on a crosswalk (a)(5), within 20 feet of a crosswalk or intersection (a)(6), and within 20 feet of a stop or traffic-control sign (a)(7). You must also always park with the flow of traffic and leave at least 10 feet for passing vehicles. Street-cleaning and Residential Permit Parking signs add further limits.
Sidewalk, driveway, hydrant, corner and crosswalk violations run about $40 each; wrong-way parking $20. Fines double every 30 days unpaid and most are towable.
