Shenandoah, TX Parking Rules: Street Parking Limits (2026)

Sec. 70-81 of the Shenandoah Code of Ordinances bars stopping, standing or parking a vehicle, except when necessary to avoid a traffic conflict or comply with a police officer's direction or a traffic control device, in fifteen listed places: on a sidewalk; in front of a public or private driveway; within an intersection; within 15 feet of a fire hydrant; on a crosswalk; within 20 feet of a crosswalk at an intersection; within 30 feet of the approach to a flashing beacon, stop sign or traffic signal; within 30 feet of a safety zone's curb ends; within 50 feet of a railroad crossing; within 20 feet of a fire station driveway, or within 75 feet on the opposite side when posted; alongside a street excavation or obstruction that would block traffic; on the roadway side of a vehicle already stopped at a curb; on a bridge, elevated structure or in a highway tunnel; anywhere official signs prohibit stopping; and in a driveway where any part of the vehicle extends into a public street.

Sec. 70-81 was most recently amended by Ord. No. O-22-006, § 1, on February 9, 2022. A companion provision, Sec. 70-83, separately requires that at least 12 feet of a roadway's width be left open for free traffic movement whenever a vehicle stops, stands or parks, with an exception for temporary stops to load or unload passengers or when obeying signs, signals or a police officer. Overtime or prohibited-area parking is separately barred under Sec. 70-86, and Sec. 70-87 requires parallel parking with wheels within ten inches of the curb unless the city has signed or marked a street for angle parking.
