Tigard, OR Parking Rules: Street Parking Limits (2026)

Tigard Municipal Code § 10.28.170 makes it unlawful for the driver of a vehicle in the City of Tigard, Washington County, Oregon, to stop or park, attended or unattended, in a list of places. The only printed exceptions are when necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic or in compliance with the directions of a police officer or traffic control signal.

The list includes: within an intersection; on a crosswalk; within 50 feet of an uncontrolled intersection or one controlled by side-mounted stop signs, yield signs or signals, with listed exceptions; within 25 feet from the intersection of curb lines for other vehicles; within 15 feet of the driveway entrance to any fire station; within 10 feet of a fire hydrant, except taxicabs in properly signed taxi zones; in front of a private driveway; on a sidewalk or parking strip; on the roadway side of any vehicle stopped at the edge of a street; and within 20 feet from a crosswalk at an intersection. Subsection K bars parking in front of a post office entrance or within 10 feet of a mailbox from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Subsection L bars parking that prevents the free passage of other vehicles in both directions at the same time.

Section 10.28.060 requires a parked vehicle to be parallel with the edge of the shoulder or curb, headed in the direction of lawful traffic movement, with the curbside wheels within 12 inches of the curb, unless the street is marked or signed for angle parking. Section 10.28.070 requires a vehicle to sit within a single marked space where markings exist.

Time limits apply only where signed: two hours under § 10.28.090, 15 minutes under § 10.28.110 and four hours under § 10.28.115. Under § 10.28.145, a vehicle can return after one hour or after being moved more than 300 feet from its original location. Section 10.28.130 bans standing at any time in an area designated by signage as a no parking zone.
